Three separate investigations are under way Tuesday after a tour bus careened out of control down a steep Southern California mountain road and crashed, killing seven and injuring dozens.

The crash happened on Highway 38 in the Yucaipa area on Sunday evening, when a bus filled with skiers and snowboarders on a day trip from Tijuana to Big Bear hit a sedan and a truck then rolled over.

"I saw many people dead. There are very,Most Verizon phone and Internet connections were down Monday morning and afternoon because a major Fiber Optic Patch Cable was accidentally cut. very horrendous images in my head, things I don't want to think about," passenger Gerardo Barrientos said.

A seventh victim was identified Tuesday: 24-year-old Liliana Camerina Sanchez Sauceda of Tijuana.

NTSB Investigator-in-Charge Robert Accetta held a 4 p.Fiber Optic Patch Panel are also acknowledged as fibers distribution panelsm. Tuesday press conference at the Ontario tow yard where the tour bus had been taken. He said the mechanical inspection of the bus had not yet begun.

Investigators were in the San Diego area, interviewing the bus company's owner and its mechanic, and in Ontario, looking at the interior of the bus, he said.

Overhead photos of the bus and other involved vehicles were being taken,Phenibut is a new supplement to the health industry and a 3D scan would be done, Accetta said. The mechanical inspection would come afterward, including an examination of the air-brake system and other parts of the bus.

"This is just day two in the investigation. It wasn't known yet if a recording device -- an "engine control module" -- on the bus held any information related to the crash, Accetta said, noting that the "older bus" would have less information than a newer vehicle would have.

Accetta said the NTSB, which always response to aircraft crashes, examines highways collisions when agency officials think they can make safety recommendations or reiterate earlier recommendations based on the investigation.

A blood sample was taken from the driver by CHP and a follow-up interview occurred Tuesday, Accetta said.

CHP Officer Mario Lopez said earlier Tuesday that a "bumper-to-bumper" inspection was planned.

"There's a possibility of mechanical failure on the bus and that's what we want to look at. There's also the possibility of human error," Lopez said.

The driver has already been interviewed by authorities, who are also talking to passengers and witnesses.

'The vehicle was operated by Scapadas Magicas LLC of National City, Calif., which had 22 safety violations in federal inspections in the year ending in October, including brake, windshield and tire problems, according to government records.

As fibers go, there's never been anything quite like spider silk. Stretch it. Bend it. Soak it. Dry it out. Spider silk holds up. It is five times stronger than steel and can expand nearly a third greater than its original length and snap right back like new. Ounce-for-ounce spider silk is even stronger than Kevlar, the human-made fiber used in bulletproof vests.Midwest Motion Products, Inc. of Watertown, Minnesota, is pleased to announce the release of a new spur gear motor, with integral failsafe brake

It would be understandable to think that science knows all there is to know about the remarkable physics of spider silk, but the truth is far from that. Now, using a long-known-but-underutilized spectroscopy technique, a Stanford researcher has shed new light on the mysteries of spider silk.

On January 27, in a paper in the journal Nature Materials, post-doctoral scholar Kristie Koski described how she was able, for the first time, to non-invasively, non-destructively examine the mechanical properties of an intact, pristine spider web just as it was spun by the spider that created it. Koski is a researcher in the Yi Cui Group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University and the first author of the study. The work was performed when she was a post-doc under Professor Jeff Yarger at Arizona State University. In most cases you will end up needed to use a Fiber Optic Attenuator

The complete elastic response of spider silk is described by five elastic constants that define how the web reacts to any possible combination of forces -- pulling, twisting or shearing in any direction. All five have never been measured in a pristine spider web. At best, earlier studies have measured one or two of the five constants at a time and, even at that, only in isolated sections of a web. Structurally speaking, the old techniques are the equivalent of testing individual steel beams and cables and trying to extrapolate conclusions about the strength of a bridge.

Looking ahead, Koski believes that understanding the complete properties of a spider web exactly as it exists in nature is key to the engineering of improved "bio-inspired" materials that not only mimic, but also improve upon nature.

"My goal is to study the nanostructure of silk to understand not just how spider silk behaves as it does, but also why it behaves in such remarkable ways in hopes of someday creating better man-made fibers," said Koski.

Overlooked technique

The research was made possible by the use of a century-old-yet-overlooked measurement technique known as Brillouin spectroscopy. The technique shines laser light on the spider silks. The light produces sound waves in the silks, which, in turn,This never-used 12VDC micro gear motor was intended for a recreational vehicle where it would have moved big parts back and forth. reflect some light back to the spectrometer. The researchers call the reflection "scattering.Fiber Optic Adapter implements connection of the same or different fiber optic connectors in the fiber optic lines & only produce a little loss for implementing optical path smooth."

"It is a bit like plucking the string of a violin, only we never have to physically touch the string to play it," said Koski.

The spectrometer measures small variations in the scattered light to ascertain the underlying tension of the silk being measured. The power of Brillouin scattering rests in the gentle way it gathers data enabling in situ measurements on spider webs, including mechanical properties at precise spots on the web such as silk intersections and glue spots.

Essentially, Koski and cohort have developed a non-invasive, non-destructive technique to measure the elasticity not just of individual strands of spider silk or even a few interconnected strands, as had those earlier studies, but of an entire intact spider web. Such exhaustive information was previously unobtainable with traditional stress-strain tests,Signamax Fiber Optic Media Converter Types Signamax is a major media converter manufacturer and they make a large variety of different fiber optic media which have to grip single strands or, at most, a few strands between two clamps to stretch them till they break.

Advance care directives allow patients to provide instructions about their preferences for the care they would like to receive if they develop an illness or a life-threatening injury and lose the capacity to make decisions for themselves. While many people may assume that patients have strong preferences for the type and aggressiveness of care they wish to receive near life's end, a new study by researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania suggests that for many patients, preferences for end-of-life care are constructed on the spot and heavily influenced by the ways in which the options are presented. Specifically, the investigators found that even when it comes to such seemingly personal decisions as end-of-life care, people tend to accept options that are presented as the default, much as they accept the default in choosing automobile insurance or whether to contribute to 401(k) programs. The research is published in the February 2013 issue of Health Affairs.

"We found that default options have large influences on the care patients choose near the ends of their lives,Carbon-sports.cc are a specialist carbon fiber manufacturer making products for people and businesses around the world.Carbon Fiber Product Manufacturer" said Scott D. Halpern, MD, PhD,The Spectrophotometer is an instrument which measures the amount of light of a specificed wavelength which passes through a medium. MBE, assistant professor of Medicine, Epidemiology, and Medical Ethics and Health Policy, and director of the Fostering Improvement in End-of-Life Decision Science (FIELDS) Program at Penn. "Although this result will be surprising to many,Our full range of portable ultrasonic Flaw Detector (UT) provides unmatched capabilities for locating discontinuities and other flaws. it makes a lot of sense on closer inspection – how could we expect patients to have deep-seated preferences about choices that are rarely encountered, difficult to contemplate, and about which we do not get feedback as to whether previous, similar, choices did or did not promote our broader goals?"

Halpern said that despite national policies and laws promoting the use of advance care directives, there has never before been a study comparing different types of advance directives. As a result, clinicians have no way of knowing what type of directives to recommend for patients to help them make and document these difficult decisions. To explore how patients make these decisions, the researchers randomly assigned 132 seriously ill patients with life expectancies of two years or fewer to complete one of three types of advance directives. Two types had end-of-life care options already checked on the form — resulting in a "default" choice—but one of these prioritized care focused on comfort, and the other, care focused on extending life by all means possible. The third type was a standard advance directive with no options pre-selected. On each form, patients could easily choose from among all possible options.

The research team found that overall, most of these seriously ill patients preferred comfort-oriented care, profile projector is a shop tool used by designers and quality control technicians to view the profile of small machined parts as magnified image on screen. but the default options influenced those choices dramatically. For example,Highly capable, 3-axis non-contact video measuring machine, suitable for both simple shop-floor quality control and advanced manufacturing inspection applications ... 77 percent of patients in the comfort-oriented default group chose an overall plan of care that prioritized comfort, while 43 percent of those in the life-extending default group rejected that default and selected comfort-oriented care instead. Among the standard advance directive group with no option already selected, 61 percent of patients selected comfort-oriented care. The authors found similarly large influences of default options on patients' desires to receive feeding tubes, mechanical ventilation, dialysis, or admission to an intensive care unit.

The researchers note that what makes the findings eye-opening is that these large differences were not due to patients just failing to recognize the default. Instead, after patients completed their directives and had them signed by a witness, the team called patients, helped them focus on the default option used (or not used) in their assigned directive, and asked them if they would like to change any of their choices. Only after patients had the opportunity to change their stated preferences did the directives become parts of the patients' medical records. The researchers found that none of these patients changed their original selections about their preferred care plans. We manufacture portable hardness tester including portable Rockwell, superficial Rockwell,Brinell, King Brinell,Pin Brinell,Webster and Barcol impressor . The Ohio Art Company, which makes Etch A Sketch, announced the death.

A chance inspiration involving metal particles and the tip of a pencil led Mr. Cassagnes to develop Etch A Sketch in the late 1950s. First marketed in 1960, the toy — with its rectangular gray screen, red frame and two white knobs — quickly became one of the brightest stars in the constellation of midcentury childhood amusements that included Lincoln Logs and the Slinky.

Etch A Sketch was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester in 1998; in 2003, the Toy Industry Association named it one of the hundred best toys of the 20th century. To date, more than 100 million have been sold.

The toy received renewed attention in March, amid the 2012 presidential campaign, after Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior adviser to Mitt Romney, described his boss’s campaign strategy heading from the primaries into the general election thus:

“Everything changes,” Mr. Fehrnstrom said.CEBU City barangays need more garbage trucks not sport utility vehicles which Mayor Michael Rama is now giving out to his allies. “It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again.”

The quotation, pilloried by Democrats and Republicans alike, was widely interpreted as an acknowledgment by the Romney campaign that its candidate had no fixed political ideology.

The complete eradicability of an Etch A Sketch drawing is born of the toy’s simple, abiding technology.

The underside of the screen is coated with a fine aluminum powder.A contract to purchase automated refuse trucks and a new ordinance for trash collection has Bartlesville well on its way to using automated residential trash pickup service. The knobs control a stylus hidden beneath the screen; turning them draws the stylus through the powder,Our Fiber Optic Splice Closure is good in quality and competitive in price scraping it off in vertical or horizontal lines that appear on the screen as if by magic. (An early French name for the toy was L’écran Magique, “Magic Screen.”)

To erase the image, the user shakes the toy, recoating the screen with aluminum; tiny plastic beads mixed with the powder keep it from clumping. There is a not-so-new phenomenon happening in Del Mar at the Fairgrounds on Saturday nights: high-octane, banked track roller derby!

That is essentially all there is to an Etch A Sketch, and though the toy now comes in various sizes, shapes and colors, its inner workings have changed little since Mr. Cassagnes first touched a pencil to a powder-coated sheet on an otherwise ordinary day more than five decades ago.

André Cassagnes was born in 1926 outside Paris and as a boy worked in the bakery his parents owned. As a young man, he took a job as an electrical technician in a factory that made Lincrusta, a deeply embossed covering applied to walls and other surfaces to mimic sculptural bas-relief.A female road sweeper was unfairly driven out by Merton Council after repeatedly complaining about sub-standard working conditions and discrimination, a tribunal has ruled.

He peeled the translucent protective decal off the new plate, and happened to make some marks on it in pencil. He noticed that the marks became visible on the reverse side of the decal.

If you're getting ready to buy a used car and you're worried you'll end up buying a lemon,CEBU City barangays need more garbage trucks not sport utility vehicles which Mayor Michael Rama is now giving out to his allies. a used-car inspection can help bring you some peace of mind. For $100 to $150, a professional mechanic will go over any car you are considering to buy to uncover any current mechanical issues as well as identify potential future problems.

Many independent auto repair shops conduct used-car inspections, which are often referred to as pre-purchase inspections. If you already work with an independent mechanic you trust, asking him to conduct the inspection or for a referral is a good start. If you don't, or if the car is located in another area, you can do an Internet search for "used-car inspections" and the city where the car is located to find a firm. You also can search for reviews on Yelp.com or a similar resource.

Make sure the mechanic you hire is certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, or ASE. Another option is to hire a national firm specializing in used-car inspections, such as Alliance Inspection Management, Carchex and Inspect My Ride.

Once you locate a qualified mechanic to perform the inspection, ask for a list of what the inspection covers. It's likely you'll receive a long list of items that the inspector will check, including many that you can check yourself, assuming you are not purchasing the car remotely. These items should include reviewing the exterior and interior for damage and wear and checking the operation of all the various car features and all fluid levels.

But a professional inspector should review the car for many issues that require a professional eye.The market of e-commerce website is booming in China. In addition, the technician should use a code-reading device to check for any error codes that could indicate a problem. Should he find any, you can ask the seller for a receipt for a corresponding repair.

Inspections are generally offered either as a mobile service, where the mechanic goes to the used car's location, or at the mechanic's garage where the seller would bring the car. If the seller is willing, opt for the garage inspection. That should allow the mechanic to put the car on a lift to view the chassis and frame more thoroughly and also give him access to other diagnostic equipment for a more comprehensive inspection.A female road sweeper was unfairly driven out by Merton Council after repeatedly complaining about sub-standard working conditions and discrimination, a tribunal has ruled.

Regardless of the type of inspection and inspection service you choose, make sure you receive a written report and photos of any areas of concern. There is a not-so-new phenomenon happening in Del Mar at the Fairgrounds on Saturday nights: high-octane, banked track roller derby! We haven’t had a big defense secretary fight since John Tower’s nomination got shot down in 1989. The former Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman was George H.W. Bush’s nominee and the Texan was pummeled over allegations about excessive drinking and sexual harassment.

There isn’t a lot of doubt that Hagel will be the next secretary of Defense, though, so the only question at his hearings was how contentious they would be. And they were pretty contentious, which reflects not only Hagel’s provocative positions but the agita he seems to cause Republicans and some Democrats who want to see defense spending maintained.
