Cyclist crushed by truck -'2 seconds later he'd have been fine'

A 40 year old Greenslopes man has died after being crushed by a truck that overturned when it hit a rail bridge.

Police say the cyclist was riding solo along Annerley Road around 7:30 on Saturday morning when a nearby truck clipped a pylon at the Dutton Park rail overpass.

The truck then toppled on its side, trapping the cyclist beneath in what police say was an appalling coincidence.

"Just a few seconds earlier or later and he'd have been fine," a spokeswoman said.

The truck-driver was uninjured, although his vehicle was damaged.

Forensics crash officers are still investigating - no decision has yet been made on any possible charges.
