Comrade Khaleel made the disclosure while speaking with LEADERSHIP at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House shortly after paying a condolence visit to Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.

The NULGE President said the award was a way of immortalizing the former governor in view of his exemplary leadership qualities which had brought about a lot of transformation in the local government administration in the state.

He said the former governor would be remembered for his bold steps and measures that opened a new chapter in government/labour relationship, as leadership of labour unions were always involved in decision making on issues concerning workers in the state.

“Local government workers appreciate the effort of the former governor for resolving the problem of irregular payment of salaries by making the payment of salaries first line charge from local government statutory allocation, saying he was among the first set of governors to approve the N18, 000 minimum wages.”

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Chapter of the NULGE has described the death of the former governor as a great loss to the workers and the entire people of Kaduna State.
